🫣 Round 21 ShortCuts

We didn't have Dylan Edwards.

Greetings.

It’s tough out there.

After Round 20, there are two groups: those who had Dylan Edwards and those who didn’t have Dylan Edwards.

Green arrow for those who did, red arrow for those who didn’t.

Add to this injuries to key players, and you have a tough week, just when we were planning to launch.

We take our licks and move on.

Let’s cut.

🔎 Spotlight - Changes for next season

A couple of weeks ago, we came across a thread on Reddit and took a look to discuss possible changes to SuperCoach, inspired by what other fantasy sports do.

SC Playbook’s podcast also touched on this on Tuesday.

We here at SCSC love our Fantasy Premier League (FPL), and it got us thinking.

Not so much about how to improve your team, but some options to spice the game up a bit.

Below, we will discuss some of what FPL does for you to muse on over the coming weeks and off-season.

Chips

  • Wildcard - twice a season, you can overhaul your entire squad for free

  • Triple Captain - what it sounds like

  • Bench Boost - in FPL, you do not have scoring reserves, so in SC, this may look like your entire squad counting towards your weekly total

  • Free Hit - for just one week, you can completely overhaul your squad - it then refers back to your previous squad

Trades

  • In FPL, you are allowed 1 free transfer/trade per week; after this, they cost you points.

  • You can save transfers up to a total of 5 if you have no pressing changes or want to save up for a big squad change

Player Prices

  • In FPL, they are dictated by how many people have transferred that player in or out - nothing to do with points scored

Lockout

  • FPL lockout begins 90 minutes before the first game of the weekend, and from this point, you cannot adjust your squad for that week.

There are many others, but these are some of the key ones that may be able to be adapted for SC.

We would love to hear from you about any other fantasy sports rules that could work in SC.

🤵🏻‍♂️ Commissioner’s Corner

Tough week for Commish.

His push for the top 1K has hit the brakes.

He made some weird trades last week, including bringing in some 5/8th from the Rabbitohs called Burns. Never heard of him.

Enough of that.

Last week’s grand plans have been flushed, so here we go afresh.

Koloamantagi ➡️ Miles Martin

DCE ➡️ Cleary

Burns ➡️ Edwards

Feels a bit gross chasing last week’s Edwards points, but there aren’t too many other options atm.

Isaako stays for now.

Hudson Young on the horizon.

As it stands

💬 Final Play

Stay in it.

Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater (I'm not entirely sure what that means, but it feels appropriate here).

Remember all the work you’ve done to get to this point.

Till green arrows next week.
